Year of the Tiger – Lick Creek Loom Fixer
To accompany our Year of the Tiger fragrance release, we selected a knife that felt worthy of the story behind it: the RoseCraft Blades Lick Creek Loom Fixer in Rose Madder Red Bone.
Inspired by the dark, resinous mystique of Black Afgano, Year of the Tiger is built around an old legend of Hǔ nián—the mighty guardian Tiger of the Year—who roamed the borders between the mortal world and the realm of storms. When a lightning bolt was hurled toward a traveler’s heart, Hǔ nián leapt from the shadows and split the sky with a single luminous claw, saving the man’s life. That claw was forever changed, glowing a brilliant red, and from that sacred color the Tiger gifted the world the madder plant. For thousands of years, its rich crimson hue has endured as a symbol of power, protection, and beauty.
With its striking Rose Madder Red Bone covers, the Lick Creek Loom Fixer felt like the perfect companion to that legend.
This traditional one-bladed pattern features a 2.7” D2 sheepsfoot blade with a brushed satin finish, half-stop, and heavy swedging. It is fitted with brushed stainless steel bolsters and liners, nickel silver pins, and RoseCraft’s distinctive Diamonds shield. Measuring 3.875” closed, 6.5” overall, and weighing just 3.1 oz, it offers an excellent balance of compact carry, sturdy feel, and refined craftsmanship. Inspired by traditional Loom Fixer patterns and reimagined by Andy Armstrong, this knife is both practical and deeply collectible.
Because bone is a natural handle material, each knife will vary in texture, pattern, and coloration, making every piece unique. RoseCraft uses dye not to hide the natural character of the bone, but to highlight it—allowing the beauty of the material to come through in every handle.

Safety + Care
SlipJoint Knife Safety (Short Version)
- NEVER try to catch a knife with an exposed blade.
- Don’t pierce anything, especially with pressure. Slip joint knives don’t lock open. Piercing cuts are a great way to have the knife fold over on your fingers.
- Open and close carefully with two hands, keeping fingers out of the blade’s path.
- Make sure the blade is fully open before using it — slip joints do not lock.
- Do not pry, twist, or force the blade.
- Always cut away from your body and keep your other hand clear.
- If the blade binds or sticks, stop to avoid accidental closure.
- Carry the knife closed in a dedicated pocket or slip. Lightly oil the pivot periodically.
- Don’t use the knife if knife feels loose, gritty, or unstable. Stop use until it is cleaned or inspected.
- Keep it clean, dry.
- Avoid using the knife when distracted or tired. Take extra care if you do use it.
- Store closed and out of reach of children.
Slip-Joint Knife Care
Either carry the knife in a slip or carry in a pocket by itself – no keys, coins, etc…
- Keep it clean & dry. Lightly oil the pivot periodically. Mineral oil works very nicely. No need for specialty oil.
- Don’t use the knife as a screw driver, pry bar, etc…. It is only for making cuts.
- We at Hendrix Classics & Co. provide three years of free sharpening services – you only payfor shipping. We will send you a discounted shipping label.
- Store the knife closed, clean, and dry.
- Avoid leaving the knife in damp environments that can weaken springs or cause rust.
