The RoseCraft Blades Zambezi (zam bee zee) Rosewood is traditional take on a modern EDC utility knife. It features a 2.5″ D2 drop point blade with a satin finish and a long pull. It’s 2.7mm thick and features a 1″ finger choil for a sure grip. This one-bladed slip joint features genuine Rosewood covers, brushed steel bolsters, steel liners, nickel silver pins and a stainless steel RoseBud Shield. It’s 3.625″ closed, 6″ overall, and weighs just 3.1oz. Designed as an original pattern by Andy Armstrong.

Zambezi is the South African name for a Bull Shark.

A note about RoseCraft’s wood handles: Wood is a natural material with natural grain. The pictures of this product show several examples of grain that can be found in this material. No two knives are the same, and while your knife will fall into the family of the variations shown, it will be different.

Safety + Care

SlipJoint Knife Safety (Short Version)

  • NEVER try to catch a knife with an exposed blade.
  • Don’t pierce anything, especially with pressure.  Slip joint knives don’t lock open.  Piercing cuts are a great way to have the knife fold over on your fingers.
  • Open and close carefully with two hands, keeping fingers out of the blade’s path.
  • Make sure the blade is fully open before using it — slip joints do not lock.
  • Do not pry, twist, or force the blade.
  • Always cut away from your body and keep your other hand clear.
  • If the blade binds or sticks, stop to avoid accidental closure.
  • Carry the knife closed in a dedicated pocket or slip. Lightly oil the pivot periodically.
  • Don’t use the knife if knife feels loose, gritty, or unstable. Stop use until it is cleaned or inspected.
  • Keep it clean, dry.
  • Avoid using the knife when distracted or tired. Take extra care if you do use it.
  • Store closed and out of reach of children.

Slip-Joint Knife Care

Either carry the knife in a slip or carry in a pocket by itself – no keys, coins, etc…

  • Keep it clean & dry.  Lightly oil the pivot periodically. Mineral oil works very nicely.  No need for specialty oil.
  • Don’t use the knife as a screw driver, pry bar, etc…. It is only for making cuts.
  • We at Hendrix Classics & Co. provide three years of free sharpening services – you only payfor shipping.  We will send you a discounted shipping label.
  • Store the knife closed, clean, and dry.
  • Avoid leaving the knife in damp environments that can weaken springs or cause rust.
